Campbell and the Red Dress: A Heartfelt History
It's no coincidence that the red color of our iconic soup label stands for not only love and passion, but also strength and courage—which also come to mind when you see the American Heart Association's Go Red For Women movement red dress symbol.
Paying tribute to the red dress and making heart health "fashionable" ties back to Campbell's history of creative couture. In 1967, we introduced a pop art-inspired paper dress which featured iconic red and white soup labels and is now a collector's item. Red dresses were also a recurring motif in our advertising dating back to the 1920's.
Today Campbell continues its Red Dress commitment as a proud supporter of the American Heart Association's Go Red For Women movement and now has over 60 heart-healthy products. In 2007, Campbell partnered with designer Michael Vollbracht for Bill Blass to put yet another spin on the red dress. Revealed by actress Lorraine Bracco, this exclusive creation was auctioned to raise money for the Go Red For Women movement.
This year, Campbell presented not one, but three red dress designs by Lisa Perry. Visitors to this site voted for their favorite, and the winning dress was worn by Grammy® award winner Toni Braxton to usher in American Heart Month. Click here to see this amazing dress!
